Your insurance is there for when you need it. You don’t want to file unnecessary insurance claims, however. We will come out and give you a FREE assessment, and let you know if you have enough damage that it will likely exceed your insurance deductible. Give us a call and we’ll come out and figure out how far the water has gone, and what materials need to be removed or restored.
After we are up and running, and if it’s a big enough deal that you do want to file an insurance claim, here are some good questions to ask your insurance company: What questions should I ask my insurance company?
—-
If you are calling with a current water emergency, here’s the order of operations:
Approximately what to expect each day
Note: Every situation is unique. This is just intended to give you a general idea of how the “typical” job sometimes goes.
Hour 0: Identify the source of the problem, so that we know what category of cleanup is required. (Drinkable water, sewage, somewhere in between). Remove standing water or sewage, and appropriate cleanup or decontamination procedures. Map the extent of the damage. Calculate and place dehumidifiers and air filtration devices to stabilize the area and prevent further damage. Create a drying target based on psychrometric conditions. Take tests and samples in accordance with DEQ of areas possibly needing demo. During the next business hours, you should get a call in to your insurance to open a claim and find out who your adjuster is. (See “Questions to ask your insurance company” paper for some important notes)
After we find out if your insurance wants to inspect before any demo is done, and getting the asbestos test results, we will proceed. The next steps are to do any demo necessary and then clean the wall/ceiling/floor cavities before drying. Then we will likely add air movers to the dehumidifiers and air filtration devices.
24/48/72 hrs after any needed demo: We will return to monitor the moisture levels, and adjust equipment placement as needed.
Final steps: We will return to monitor, and when we find that all areas have met the drying goal, we will remove the remaining equipment.
Within two days of completion, we will deliver to you the final invoice with a full report for your insurance carrier.
