Things we consider when coming up with the best drying strategy for your home

January 7, 2020 | Water Damage
  1. What’s the source of the water? Is it clean, contaminated, or grossly contaminated?
  2. How recently did the contamination occur? (Water gets more dangerous as time progresses. Bacteria can double in as little as 20 minutes, so things escalate quickly.)
  3. Has all of the water been found? Often times water goes several directions and hides in nooks and crannies.  Wall and floor assemblies are important places to check with moisture equipment.
  4. Which items can be restored to a safe condition, and which need to be removed and replaced?
  5. Is there any lead-based paint or any asbestos-containing materials present? (All materials are to be treated as asbestos-containing until they’ve been tested per federal and Oregon state law.)
